Job Description:
Staff Engineer - Electrical for Stryker Corporation in
Kalamazoo, MI to advise teams and conduct research, development and technical
studies, and perform a wide variety of technical work that leads to new and
improved products and product lines under marketing, cost, time and
regulatory construction. Plan and conduct engineering research, design,
development and manufacturing engineering projects. Monitor and control
progress of projects to ensure use of sound application of engineering
principles and consistency with design intent. Coordinate with other units,
vendors and senior managers to ensure cost, time and regulatory standards
are met. Communicate with customers to resolve product issues and
coordinate on special orders. Maintain administrative authority for
engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM) and engineering change orders. Evaluate
the results of projects and provide manufacturing guidance and assistance.
Develop Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) design specifications.
Interact with the project technical lead to derive requirements for custom
PCBA design. Perform PCBA design, including digital and analog circuit design
and motor control and switching power supplies. Utilize Cadence OrCad
Capture, Cadence Allegro and PADS. Create schematic parts, including
modeling information for circuit simulation. Execute PCB layout based
upon design requirements, IPC specifications, DFM and vendor requirements,
including differential signal routing and EMC control. Develop and execute
PCBA test strategies. Develop custom embedded software in C/C++. Develop
and execute software test strategies. Perform a wide variety of technical
work in planning and design of products and components and in the
development, application and approval of design modifications to increase
production quality and/or quality. Requires: Bachelor's degree or foreign
education equivalent in Electrical Engineering plus four (4) years of
experience performing analog and digital circuit schematic design for
pulse-width modulation (PWM) control and high order noise filtering,
impedance controlled signals and isolated ground (IG) circuits or,
alternatively, a Master's degree and two years of experience as noted above.
Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirements
not applicable to this section): developing Printed Circuit Board
Assembly (PCBA) design specifications, including liaising with project
technical leads to derive requirements for custom PCBA design and
maintaining PCBA component libraries; performing digital and analog circuit
design for motor control and switching power supplies using Cadence OrCad
Capture; creating schematic parts, including modeling information for circuit
simulation and executing PCB layout based upon design requirements, Institute
for Printed Circuits (IPC) specifications, Design for Manufacturability
(DFM) and vendor requirements using differential signal routing and EMC
control, as well as Cadence Allegro and PADS; debugging and testing
electrical hardware and embedded software using AC/DC power supplies, electronic
loads, oscilloscopes, signal generators and logic analyzers; and
developing custom embedded software in C/C++ and developing and executing software
