Job Description:
Kalamazoo Christian High School is seeking a dedicated and
passionate Varsity Cross Country Coach to lead and inspire
student-athletes on and off the course. The ideal candidate will
bring a strong background in running, a commitment to character
development, and the ability to build a competitive and respectful
team culture. Staff at Kalamazoo Christian Schools carry out
faithfully the responsibilities of a Christian staff member by
preparing students to serve God responsibly in His world, by
equipping them with knowledge, skills and a Biblical vision for
life, for the advancement of His Kingdom. Job Duties &
Responsibilities: Plan and conduct daily practices that develop
athletes’ skills, fitness, and teamwork. Instruct student-athletes
in the rules, strategies, and techniques of running. Promote
academic achievement and good sportsmanship. Develop and maintain a
positive team culture that aligns with the values of the school and
athletic department. Supervise athletes during practices, meets,
and school-related events. Collaborate with assistant coaches,
athletic trainers, and school administration. Maintain equipment
and manage the program’s budget in coordination with the Athletic
Director. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and
school staff. Minimum requirements: High school diploma or
equivalent required; Prior coaching experience at the high school,
club, or collegiate level. Strong knowledge of running fundamentals
& MHSAA rules. Ability to motivate student-athletes and foster a
positive, inclusive team environment. CPR/First Aid and applicable
coaching certifications (or willingness to obtain). Must pass a
background check The preferred candidate will be able to
demonstrate a strong & active Christian faith with a solid
knowledge of the Bible. The preferred candidate will understand &
be committed to the mission & vision of Christian education.
