table for you... Gordon Food Service is hiring a Director of
Strategic Procurement. This person will develop a winning vision
that is supported by clearly defined strategies to achieve
strategic procurement goals and provide best in class, fully landed
cost of goods solutions for all North American divisions. Regularly
reviews, develops and implements strategies for non-product
business costs such as maintenance and replacement parts (MRO),
capital expenditures and services. Coaches and mentors a team of
category professionals driving continuous process improvement
opportunities, implementing best practices and repeatable
processes. Leads the development of new procurement strategies to
improve efficiencies, negotiations, sourcing opportunities, and the
integrity of processes. Promotes connectivity within the
organization by maximizing the supplier community networks;
engaging Logistics, Transportation, and other functional areas to
leverage efficiencies, common practices, and cost parameters
through the supplier negotiation
process.Responsibilities:Leadership
- Interviews, hires, trains and retains staff. Conduct bi-annual
performance reviews for direct reports, initiating follow through
with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human
Resources.
- Ensures that personal development plans are created and
actively managed for each individual -- direct reports through
front-line employees -- on your team. Vision & Planning
- Creates and advocates for a compelling vision for the Strategic
Procurement Team that provides best in class, fully landed cost of
goods solutions for all North American divisions.
- Leverages the Strategic Procurement Team vision to support the
North American Strategic Long Range Plan.
- Develops, monitors and manages an Annual Plan that supports
corporate goals for growth and earnings. Analyze for variances and
take appropriate action -
- Develops and manages an annual expense plan for the Strategic
Procurement Team. Monitor, manage, and control the budget; analyze
variances and take appropriate action to ensure budget is at/under
plan. Strategy Development
- Develops programs and strategies for increasing margin and
efficiencies for both Annual Operating Plans and Long Range
Planning. -
- Owns and manages the creation of strategic procurement goals
and initiatives. -
- Develops and deploys strategic processes applicable to
divisional, segment and regional needs. -
- Regularly reviews, develops and implements strategies for
non-product business costs such as maintenance and replacement
parts (MRO), capital expenditures and services. -
- Identifies and advocates for opportunities to leverage
technology solutions to support more efficient immediate and
long-term procurement processes. Communication &
Relationship-Building
- Builds and leverages strong, collaborative relationships with
Business Units to identify and drive continuous process improvement
opportunities, implementing best practices and repeatable
processes.
- Builds strong, collaborative relationships with Divisional
teams across North America by conducting quarterly ride-along with
front-line Sales, Marketing and Quality Assurance employees.
- Actively supports acquisition efforts via participation in the
Integration Management Group (IMG) Quality Assurance
- Ensures product compliance with GFS specifications, standards
and quality expectations.
- Ensures the administration of the customer complaint system and
the product recall system. -
- Ensures the execution of supplier quality management activities
(ex: supplier quality audit programs). -
- Ensures the food quality and safety audits of GFS distribution
centers, as well as contract review, training and liaison support
on Multi-Unit customer quality system requirements. -
- Ensures training and orientation of GFS associates and groups
on GFS quality assurance programs. -
- Assures product quality related regulatory compliance. Provides
ongoing review and consultative support to GFS business functions.
Serve as primary liaison with agency representatives. General
- Lead development of changes to Procurement process and cycles
based on changing business environment both inside and outside of
GFS. -
- Leads the realized savings process month to month, assisting
LCBs with investigating savings gaps and planning strategies to
reach realized savings goals. -
- Supervises and manages all purchasing activities of the
Indirect Spend Buyer.
- Leads and coaches LCBs in both professional and organizational
skill development activities. -
- Determines and implements Procurement best practices across
North American Category teams.
- Work closely with the Logistics leader to enable efficient
connectivity between the Procurement and Logistics organizations
through development and execution of plans for continuous
performance improvement.
- Support the leveraging of existing Vendor agreements when
acquisitions are made so that the maximum benefit is realized by
Gordon Food Service. Ideal candidate will have:
