table for you...Gordon Food Service is hiring an Assistant Project
Manager - Construction. This candidate will supports our customer's
life-cycle capital improvement and growth plans by managing the
construction process, suppliers, and builders to ensure the timely,
on-budget completion of assigned projects.Responsibilities:
- Manages projects and schedules of the various phases of capital
improvement projects appropriately to ensure required dates are
achieved to meet business plans.
- Manages the process of architectural/engineering documentation
as required to secure permits, meet municipal requirements, and
update internal building plans and records. Ensures budget and
operational needs are met and all relevant construction details are
conveyed.
- Manages all aspects of the capital improvement project
execution process with all parties including contractors, vendors,
architects, and engineers to ensure on-time completion.
- Executes in alignment with established capital improvement
project processes and procedures to meet schedules and
budgets.
- Follows a formal bid review process for approval by the PRS
Leadership that includes recommendation of qualified bidders,
preparation of standardized contracts, bid documents, and specified
qualifications.
- Interfaces with regulatory agencies for permit and licenses
from the start of the process through receipt of final occupancy
permit or required completion documentation
- Communicates with and keeps Leadership up-to-date on projects
through status reports.
- Manages/maintains all project documentation binders including
plans, prints, as-builts, pay applications, and other required
materials.
- Analyzes capital budgets for assigned projects. Routinely
monitors, manages, and controls budget, analyzes variances and
takes appropriate action and develops plans when necessary.
- Performs on-site visits to review job progress during
construction for quality and timeliness.
- Conducts research and reports on best practices, new
technology, equipment, processes, etc that could create increased
efficiencies and cost savings
- Performs other duties as assigned.Ideal candidate will have:

- Written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal
skills to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups; to
communicate change
- Ability to effectively lead group discussions to make progress
and keep the group focused; encourage diverse points of view and
active participation;
- Ability to prepare for meetings; determine plans for follow up
and achievement of action items.
- Strong project management skills. Skill in accuracy and
thoroughness.
- Ability to work effectively with others outside of own formal
line of authority to accomplish organizational goals.
- Ability to use creativity to develop fresh perspectives and new
ideas for issues at hand; develop workable implementation
plans.
- Ability to monitor own work to ensure quality and look for ways
to improve and promote quality. Accepts responsibility for own
actions; follows through on commitments, maintains confidentiality;
reacts well under pressure; and approaches others in a professional
manner.
- Must possess a broad knowledge of construction processes and
contract law. Ability to maintain knowledge of current trends and
developments in the field.
- Ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems.
May refer to established precedents and policies.
- Knowledge of construction safety rules and regulations and
ability to abide by established quality standards.Education:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred in business, construction or
related field.
- Two or more years of construction project management experience
in commercial, industrial or retail segments, or an equivalent
combination of education, training, and experience. Requires
