Job Description Locum Ophthalmologist – Neonatal ROP Evaluations
Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan Facility Type: Level III NICU
Specialty Focus: Inpatient Ophthalmology – Neonatal Retinopathy of
Prematurity (ROP) Position Overview A Locum Ophthalmologist is
needed to support ROP evaluations in a Level III NICU setting. This
highly specialized role involves in-person and/or remote assessment
of neonates with support from neonatal nurse practitioners and
neonatologists. Schedule & Coverage - Dates of Coverage: Varies –
Ongoing need - Schedule: Varies. In-person evaluations required
once per week; remote reading access available - Patient Volume:
3–5 neonates per week for ROP assessment - Practice Focus: 100%
Neonate - Support Staff: NNPs for imaging and onsite neonatologist
Facility Details - Practice Setting: Inpatient – Level III NICU -
EMR: Epic - Trauma Level: III - Required Study: Retinal image/photo
interpretation - Other Coverage Providers: No other ophthalmologist
coverage during Locum's time Requested Rates: - Malpractice -
Orientation - Hourly - Holiday Hourly - Overtime - Holiday Overtime
Requirements - Board Certification in Ophthalmology – Required
(will consider truly board eligible) - Active MI License or IMLC
