Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours (6am to 4:30pm or 6:30am to 5pm) / On Call 1-2 Nights Per Week Experience: 3 Years of CVOR Experience, Open Heart Experience, Prior Travel Work Experience License: Active State License Certifications: Active American Heart Association BLS Must-Have: - 3 Years of CVOR Experience - Open Heart Experience - Prior Travel Work Experience Description: This position is responsible for assessing the needs of each patient before and during a surgical procedure. Maintains patient safety throughout the surgical process. The RN outlines individual care plans, implements, evaluates, and documents patient care during surgical procedures. Provides leadership to the surgical team. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the surgical team, as well as supervisors and ancillary departments. Participates in staff development through preceptorship and continuing education. Assesses the needs of the surgical patient and develops a specific plan of care. Implements and evaluates the plan during the procedure and makes necessary adjustments to prioritize patient safety. Supervises activities in the room. Anticipates and coordinates any schedule changes for the surgical team. Assembles necessary equipment and supplies. Assists anesthesia as needed. Monitors the sterile field throughout the procedure. Communicates with patients, families, physicians, the surgical team, supervisors/managers, and ancillary departments.
