Press Operator-3rd Shift
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Directs tasks of press crew.
Verifies size, color, and type of paper and the color of ink
from job order. Cleans
inking rolls with solvent, using protective gloves, and replaces
them in press using hand tools. Loads ink fountains with new
colors required for the job.
Adjusts controls to regulate volume of ink. Packs impression cylinder with
Adjusts take-off tapes and positions and locks from on cylinder
Starts press and runs off proof sheets, examining proofs to
determine off-level areas, variations in ink volume, register
slippage, indications of offsetting, and color
register. Adjusts press
controls, ink fountains, and automatic feeders and repacks
cylinders with overlay to equalize off-level.
Operates and performs general preventative maintenance on
Detects and reports defective materials or questionable
conditions to the department manager.
Maintains production, quality standards and reports as
determined by operators, supervisors, and upper
Daily clock into the Information System(s) entering employee,
correct cost center rates and job operations.
Daily clock in and out of jobs.
Daily input into the Information System the correct counts for
produce quantity and waste quantity.
Complies with all safety regulations and work rules.
Performs general housekeeping in working area.
Performs other duties as required/assigned by lead, supervisor
High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
Mechanical aptitude, strong communication skills, and team
Follow explicit orders and job specifications.
Demonstrate increasing understanding of the printing process,
printing machines, and press crew responsibilities.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
Ability to lift 70 pounds and/or move 100 plus pounds.
