Position Summary: This position is the primary Internal customer (Sales) contact person for Shop service and is responsible for managing shop technicians to deliver financial performance while exceeding our customers experience expectations. Essential Functions:

  • Take incoming internal and external (when needed) customer communication schedule/coordinate all Shop Service work.
  • Communicates with our customers updating them regularly of equipment in-shop repair status and gathering repair approvals.
  • Supplies all documents and reports needed to the service manager.
  • Work closely with the Service Manager in policy matters that pertain to Shop operations.
  • Consults with the Service Manager on annual departmental objectives. Carries out daily objectives to achieve service department goals.
  • Assist in scheduling Service Techs into the respective classes available to ensure technicians have current and necessary skills.
  • Manage new technician onboarding process and training.
  • Provides any safety equipment and safety training to all Service techs as needed.
  • Applies working knowledge and practical skills maintaining as close as possible to a 50 percent billable time of Honnen represented brand systems to include basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Handles and executes warranty in the company's best interest and works with the warranty coordinator regarding any special warranty.
  • Maintains and executes good housekeeping and safety in the work area for the best possible image of the company and the safety of its employees.
  • Ensures that all Honnen asset DIT moves, both check-in and outs, and stock asset DIT statuses are current and correct. Supervisory:
    • Schedules and monitors the progress of Service technician repairs
    • Contacts customers as the needs change and direct the work of Service techs
    • Supervise, Shop Tech's, Yard Inventory Coordinators and others assigned by the Service Manager
    • Encourages adherence to company values, policies, and best practices Other Functions:
      • Open and assist in closing R/O's in a timely manner as needed
      • Manages technicians and service department work order process scheduling and delivering service repairs in the timeline committed to
      • Responsible for all Whole Goods department equipment coming through the service department, including:
        • Sold Equipment
        • Rentals and Rental Return and the workflow associated with this process
        • Whole Good Equipment Inspections
        • Responsible for the Yard, including:
          • Yard appearance, ensuring that our facility is up to Honnen Equipment standards at all times.
          • Wash bay, ensuring staffing, efficiency, and management of workflow and value for the company is being achieved
          • Communication to our customers using platforms like Modern or Foresight Intelligence's SMS programs. These programs will be the primary communication tool used between internal/external customers and the shop. The Working Foreman position will need to go-to expert for these tools in their Service Department
          • Responsible for the Cylinder rebuild and Clean Room in SLC
            • Ensuring that the equipment is in proper working condition
            • Training to service technicians on how to properly use the equipment
            • Quality Control for the Service Department
            • Ensuring service repair work orders are billed correctly and gathering customer p.o.'s Qualifications:
              • Associates degree preferred. High School diploma and related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
              • Three (3) + years of mechanic repair and maintenance experience with Heavy Equipment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
                • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic repairs
                • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of heavy equipment
                • Intermediate computer and systems ability
                • Basic knowledge of accounting practices
                • Knowledge of Deere operating systems
                • Technical and parts knowledge
                • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, self-motivation, and formal communication skills are required Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity is required by handling objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and/or up-to 20 pounds frequently. PM20 PI185856571
