Job DescriptionEssential Functions of Role:This position is "hands on" within the Logistics Department. Meeting USDA, HACCP, GMP, and Company standards, and under the supervision of the Shipping and Receiving Manager, the functions of this role are to be responsible for supporting departmental activities in the Shipping area while working with Operations and Quality Assurance Departments to preserve food safety throughout the storage and distribution process. Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain a Work-safe environment within the Logistics Department. Identify and report potential safety hazards in the area. Keep "safety always", and follow all safety guidelines, practices, and regulations (USDA, OSHA, PIT, etc.) and adhere to departmental and company safety goals.
  • Adhere to company mission statement and core values of People, Process, Product.
  • Follow standard operating procedures for shipping, material handling, offsite storage, and product salvaging.
  • Communicate inventory accuracy results and discrepancies daily and support accurate offsite inventories and assist in the coordination of periodic inventory cycle counts and investigate, communicate, resolve and report inventory discrepancies.
  • Train as a backup to the Offsite Inventory Coordinator.
  • Document, compile, and record records of inventory percentage accuracies and discrepancy details.
  • Help direct the Unloaders and Blast Freezer Operators in the placement of finished goods items.
  • Adhere to and promote FIFO customer picking and inventory management.
  • Complete weekly physical inventory counts and document results on the Cycle Count spreadsheet, leading the investigation process for mis-located pallets.
  • Segregate products/product lines based on the freezer map for item groups.
  • Segregate items on QA Hold, Ship Hold, or #2 status.
  • Maintain items with allergen ingredients in the defined rack locations.
  • Work directly with QA to remove QA Hold tags upon item release.
  • Continually evaluate and make recommendations to achieve 85% warehouse capacity, elimination of box crushing and case leaking.
  • Report and document rack condition and damage to the Foreperson and Manager and replace rack location barcodes when worn or not functional.
  • Support product transfer training for the Unloader/Loader and Blast Freezer Operator positions.
  • Help maintain North and South Freezer housekeeping (open and exposed cases, damage, wood debris, etc.). Qualifications:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent customer service.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
    • Independent, self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work with all levels of management to build a team environment.
    • Strong time management.
    • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required for job role, including protective eyewear, earplugs, hardhat, hair net, protective coat (clothing protector), impervious boots, and other as needed. High school graduate, some college preferred.
    • 2-4 years Industrial Lift Truck, Order Picker, and Pallet-Jack Rider experience.
    • 3-5 years experience in shipping, inventory control, or materials management.
    • Computer Proficiency (QAD, WMS, Word, Excel, etc.).
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail oriented.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills & the ability to work with many levels of management.
    • Pass a basic mathematical skills test.
    • Able to speak, read and write in the English language. Physical Qualifications:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.       • Must be able to physically perform the essential functions of the role as outlined.
      • Must be able to twist, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs. for the duration of the shift.
      • Must be able to operate and use office machines and equipment.
      • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
      • Must be able to communicate utilizing various office equipment including the telephone, computer, facsimile machine, etc.
      • Must be able to safely operate an Industrial Lift Truck and maintain a company issued Industrial Lift Truck license.
      • Must be able to work in a -20 to +28 degree freezer and cooler environment
