Job Description:
Electrical Engineering Summary:Research, plan, and design
mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Direct and
coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation,
application, installation, and repair of mechanical or
electromechanical products and systems by performing the following
duties.Under supervision of a Product Development Engineer and
using procedures standard to the company, carries out assignments
associated with research, design or development, and manufacture of
specific parts, components, or minor phases of a project.
Translates technical guidance received from supervisor into usable
data applicable to the assignments; coordinates the activities of
drafters assigned to specific projects. Work assignments may be
varied and include areas of design, electrical, mechanical,
hydraulic, manufacturing, pneumatic, and noise
engineering.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal,
specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or
application.
- Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, and
mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
- Plans and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test
control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and
procedures for testing products or systems.
- Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities
to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and
customer specifications.
- Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware,
and software.
- Evaluates field installations and recommends design
modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.Specific
Functions:
- Supervises engineering design of manufactured products or
equipment.
- Ensure that all major components have vendor approvals.
- Supervises fabrication of test products or equipment under
development.
- Suggests engineering standards and specifications.
- Supervises drafting, reproduction, and maintenance of
files.
- Prepares cost estimates and bills of materials.
- Investigate service-related engineering issues.Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
- Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to
four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business
periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or
governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business
correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively
present information and respond to questions from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the public.Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability
and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid
geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as
fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical
situations.Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.General Physical
Requirements:
- Office work is generally sedentary in nature. Office
environment physical demands include being seated at desk for
extended periods while talking on the telephone or working on a
computer; walking, standing, occasional lifting and carrying (up to
15 lbs.); frequent near vision for reading and computer work;
repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists for keyboard and other
business machine usage; occasional stressful conditions.
